Manipulating Beauty
Magazines, ads, commercial, and basically everything that has to do with beauty is messed up! I am not trying to be rude to the lovely models out there; but when people are modeling, you're not really showing your true natural beauty in the ads. The only thing that is really shown is how good your hair and makeup look on you. Yet, editors and publisher think that this still isn't enough. For example, the publisher would say “Our model is beautiful, but I don’t like how her neck is so short. One of you people better Photoshop that so it looks perfect!”
This maybe a good strategy to sell more of your products, but many people don’t realize that this is ruining some people’s lives! The media is making people believe that there is a person out there that looks that perfect! Meaning that they could look like that. Some people have devoted their lives trying to look perfect and as beautiful as the people in the magazines. Some people go as far as getting plastic surgery just to look that good. This is also ruining young people’s lives and minds too, because many young people are being bullied because they don’t look different and like what is portrait in magazines and ads.
In conclusion, the message of this is that many people are thinking that what they see on magazines or ads are real. This maybe a good way to improve profits but based on my thought towards this, I think it just wrong. It effecting the young minds of this generation. It makes them believe that their are real people that look perfect like that so when they see someone that looks different in anyway, they would bully them based on how they are different or ugly.
