AI (Artificial Intelligence) - 1 : a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation of intelligent behavior in computers. 2 : the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior
Through the meaning of an Artificial Intelligence or for short AI from google definition, AI ranges from your phone's calculator to self-driving cars to something something in the future that might change the world dramatically. AI basically is a term for all forms of technology.
Even though it seems kinda confusing, I try to remember AI by just by putting everything that has some sort of programming that goes along with it. So like a robot, something that has some sort of program that goes along with it is an AI. The closet thing that I think many people would know that is a robot is Siri, found in apple devices.

Siri is one of the common AI that we come to know. Though Siri voice is a real person voice with some additional things added to it, Siri isn't a real person. She is an artificial intelligence for the convince of voice recognition and searching up something without typing it. You can kinda call her the robot that works in your Iphone.
To some having Siri is a good thing, because it helps them with their disability. With Siri they can just speak into their apple device to search something up. This also helps those who don't know or is unsure about the spelling of a certain word because they can just say the word into siri and siri will say it back before she types it in.
Siri isn't the only Artifical Intelligence that is helping people. Prosthetic limbs is another form of AI. Prosthetic limbs now a days are so advance that the users can move the prosthetic limbs with their brain. Which to me is a huge step into helping those who need those limbs. It's making prosthetic limbs look more human. If you want to read about more detail on how Prosthetic Limbs work. A link that explains this is here.

Yet, now less and less people are doing this an moving on to a new form of communication. Texting, a new form of communication where 2 or more cellular telephones input letters that forms words that combined becomes sentences and sends that combinations of words through radio waves that is then picked up by the other cellular telephone or telephones and continue the same process until they stop the conversation that they are having.
This is the flaw of the advancements in technology, while technology advances communication does too. With technology advances we are losing the most basic form of communication known to man. Actually talking to each other, face to face. I'm pretty sure those who were born in the digital age probably has seen more screen than actually people.

With communication being like this, many people can be who every they want and no one would. One person could easily hack into another person's account on any platform they chose and pretend to be that person and no one would know. This is also another flaw in the advancements of technology.
Which in conclusion, the advancements in the world of AI would helps some but not help all people in this digital world. It changes the way we think of communication cause everyone texts each other how a days. No one actually takes the effort into talking to each other face to face. It make me think that communication is now nothing more than talking to a screen with a stranger.

Technology has helped the human civilization increase in population. It has also helped us in communication and the medical field. I also agree that technology is making us lose our basic form of communication. In the future, who knows how far technology will take us.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you fully, technology is certainly a double edged blade. Although it may seem to help us more than harm us, we still need to be aware of how technology is affecting us nowadays. It's made us awfully unfit, as we no longer need to go to the grocery store to buy food, we can now order takeout, or even have our groceries shipped to us for a fee. AI may seem to help us, but is it really helping us? Do we really need a watch that can check our social media websites? AI may seem very attractive, and we tell ourselves that we must have it, but we certainly do not need to upgrade our phones very half a year, do we? I am afraid of what the future holds for AI, as we may become even more unfit and lazy than we already are.
